The short version
We do not collect your data. Not in an "anonymised" sense, not in a "we only use it to improve the service" sense — the app has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party code of any kind in it. There is nothing for us to look at, because nothing is sent to us.
What you log lives in two places, both of them yours: on your iPhone, and — if you have iCloud switched on — in your own private iCloud storage, so it follows you to your other devices. We have no access to either.
Who we are
Habits! is made by Nordic Digital Labs AB, a company registered in Sweden. You can reach us at support@nordicdigitallabs.com.
Where your habit data lives
Everything you log — what you tracked, when, and any notes you added — is written to your device by the app. If iCloud is enabled on your iPhone, it also syncs to the private iCloud area belonging to your Apple Account, which is what lets it appear on your other devices.
That storage is yours, not ours. It sits under your Apple Account, governed by your arrangement with Apple, and we have no key to it and no way to request one. The practical consequence, which we would rather state plainly than bury: we cannot recover your data for you. If you turn iCloud off and delete the app, it is gone.
What the app does not do
This is the part most privacy policies are vague about, so to be specific — Habits! contains:
- no analytics or usage tracking of any kind;
- no crash or diagnostic reporting to us;
- no advertising, ad identifiers or App Tracking Transparency prompt;
- no accounts, sign-up, login or profile;
- no third-party SDKs, and no cookies;
- no network requests of its own — the only time it opens a connection is when you tap a link that sends you to a website in Safari.
Reminders, if you turn them on, are scheduled by iOS on your device. The reminder never leaves your phone and we are not involved in it.
The little we do see
Two things reach us indirectly, and neither identifies you:
- App Store statistics. Apple gives every developer aggregate figures — downloads, territories, app versions — and, if you have chosen to share analytics with developers in iOS, crash reports. It arrives already aggregated and we cannot connect it to a person. Apple's handling is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Email you send us. If you write to us, we obviously have your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to answer you and for nothing else, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we delete correspondence once the matter is closed — normally well within 24 months.
Deleting your data
You do not need to ask us, and there is no request to submit — because we are not holding anything, this is entirely in your hands:
- clear your entries from the app's Settings screen; or
- delete the app to remove what is on the device; and
- if you used iCloud sync, remove the app's data from iCloud under Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Your rights
Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port personal data we hold, and to object to how we use it. In practice the only personal data we ever hold is an email you have sent us, so a request will nearly always be answered with either that correspondence or confirmation that we have nothing. Write to support@nordicdigitallabs.com and we will respond within one month.
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling. If you think we have got something wrong, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY), or to the supervisory authority where you live.
Children
Habits! is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 — though it is worth noting we do not knowingly collect data from anyone of any age.
Security
The protection here is structural rather than procedural: there is no server of ours holding your habits, so there is no database of ours to breach. On your device the data is protected by iOS's app sandbox and, when you have a passcode set, by the device's own encryption; in transit to and within iCloud it is protected by Apple.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. If a future version of the app were to collect anything at all, we would say so here first and ask you before it did.
